Perched in the cool highlands of Nyeri, the Thageini wet mill stands as one of four mills operated by the Aguthi Farmers Co-operative Society — a community of nearly 2,000 farmers committed to quality, sustainability, and shared growth. Around 450 producers deliver their cherries here, where Project Origin has supported infrastructure development since 2017, including carbonic maceration setups and improved drying facilities that have enhanced both processing and cup quality.

At Thageini, freshly picked cherries are hand-sorted for color and ripeness before being de-pulped, fermented, and washed in clean channels. The coffee is then dried on raised beds for 14–21 days until it reaches optimal moisture, after which it is rested in parchment and finally dry-milled for export.

Each lot reflects the values shared by the co-operative and Project Origin: quality, sustainability, and community. The resulting cup is bright, layered, and balanced — a fine expression of Kenyan tradition and innovation working in harmony.

How long does it take for my order to be processed and delivered?

We process orders within 2–4 business days, depending on workload. On the first business day after the weekend, we process all orders received on holidays. Delivery in Romania is then made in approximately 24–48 hours, depending on the courier and location.

Where does the coffee you roast come from?

Our coffee comes from sustainable farms, carefully selected from various producing regions. We visit at least two different origins each year, where we get to know the farmers personally and see first-hand the processing methods. This way, we ensure that each batch meets our quality and traceability standards.

Can I return the coffee?

For hygiene and food safety reasons, we cannot accept returns for coffee packages.

Why does my coffee taste different from one order to another?

Specialty coffee is a natural product. The flavor may vary slightly depending on the harvest, growing conditions, and roast profile chosen for that batch, but we promise to always maintain our standards of quality and freshness.
